In 1959, Curt Mueller, fresh off his days as a power forward for the University of Wisconsin basketball team and armed as a registered pharmacist, hatched a big idea while working with his father Oliver at the family’s drugstore. Curt realized training room supplies were inadequate for serious athletes. So he used his knowledge of sports and pharmacology to develop better products to protect athletes from injury and enhance their performance. In the process, he coined the term ‘sports medicine’ and a new industry was born.
